Library of Osh State University

The library of Osh State University is one of OSU’s leading structure divisions providing students, professors and scholar with access to literature and information. Moreover, the library is a center of knowledge dissemination, spiritual and intellectual communication and culture. The library’s collection and acquisitions are carried out according to the university’s profile and reader’s informational demands. There is a great variety of books including political, social, natural-scientific, juridical, medical, agricultural, pedagogical and other literature. Furthermore, there are periodicals in Kyrgyz, Russian, Uzbek, English, German and Turkish languages.
Osh State University library provides the readers with the following free services:
• Providing full information about library’s collection through public catalogue and cards system;
• Consulting in search and selection of edited periodical press and other documents;
• Delivering the books for temporary use;
• Compiling bibliographic directories and literature lists to assist educational and research activity;
• Working out the topical, address and other bibliographic references;
• Surveying the bibliographic reviews;
• Organization of book presentations and exhibitions.

Osh State University library consists of 4 departments, including 14 libraries within OSU’s faculties, 11 students’ reading-halls, 15 chairs’ offices. In OSU faculty libraries there are 67 library employees. The number of general library fund comes to 916,489 exemplars. In January 2005 the special reading-hall was opened for post-graduates and researches. Now there are 29 dissertations, 15 abstracts, 1,973 scientific journals, 115 collections of OSU research works and 405 collections of Moscow State University’s research works.
